HEY, I’M MER.

A lot of photographer's About Me pages talk about "stumbling" into their profession and how after one moment the rest was history. A lot of others talk about "capturing" moments for you and turning them into timeless photos. Then you get some that say "behind the lens is where I am most comfortable."

I'm over the clichés.

All of that fluff doesn't tell you one lick about me as a person or as a professional. So instead here are some things that I think you should really know about me.

I have a degree in Political Science with a pre-law emphasis.

I was on track to be a lawyer and took up photography as a way to fund a masters program but quickly found that I enjoyed it so much more than a side hustle. In a chaotic-three-day-whirlwind I quit my masters program, went full time in photography, and never looked back.

Animals are my jimmy-jam.

I grew up barrel racing horses in Missouri, if I see a stray cat chances are I am taking it home (No I'm serious, I am 4/4 on that score currently). I have a little black dog named Juniper, a not so little Malamute named Maggie, and two kitty brothers named Ted Lasso and Coach Beard.

I love love.

My husband (AHH SO WEIRD TO SAY) and I started dating in 9th grade (Cue the awh) and finally had our wedding ceremony in October of 2020. We like going to breweries, Kayaking, cooking, doing an okay job on home reno projects, and playing Mario Kart. He, and my little family, are the main reason I love love so much.

I love trashy television.

I am just as at home watching CNN as I am Keeping Up With The Kardashians. I have seen EVERY episode of all the Teen Mom series and I am not ashamed.

I love to travel.

I remember a time when I was shooting a wedding in Colorado, I was standing on top of the mountain during sunset waiting for my bride to fix her veil. I was watching the sun dip lower and lower, the sky absolutely PAINTED in beautiful colors, and I thought to myself, "Damn this is so much better than being stuck in an office all day." Part of why I love this job so much is that it allows me the oppurtunity to travel with my clients to places that light their hearts on fire and I love that. Also I speak French, just in case anyone wants to, you know, fly my out there for an elopement. Just sayin'.

I'm all about celebrating the feeling of big days & moments.

My main goal is to always document how a moment felt. I don't pay attention to trends or fads too much, once you meet me you will understand that I am VERY far from trendy. But that's okay, because wedding trends fade. But the happiness, joy, surprise, love, warmth, and sometimes even saddness I see during weddings and other sessions will always be the same. I want you to look back through your photos with me and know that a photo captured exactly how that moment felt when it was being taken.

I am so body positive it's annoying.

Big, small, Schmedium, tall, short, big feet, little feet, toes or no toes I am all about that body positive life style. Which is why I love shooting boudoir, cus I get to compliment someone for a whole two hours and launch a convincing argument as to why they should see themselves as a work of art, like I do.
